i'm pumped

Thank you for all the words of support for my gas issues!  I'm sure you've all been dying to know how much gas I currently have in my car.  Well. . . you will all be happy to know that I currently have a full tank!  Yesterday, after I dropped off Kendall at school, I noticed that one of the gas stations on the way home had a line.  I hopped in and waited JUST 15 minutes and voila-- FULL TANK.  I have never been so happy to pay $3.99 per gallon for gas in my entire life.  Thankfully, they haven't been jacking up the price, but I seriously would have paid $20 per gallon at that point.  I exchanged some nice words with the lady next to me who was also able to get gas for the first time in about five days.  We were just all SO excited, or should I say "pumped"?

There is still a gas shortage.  Apparently only 20% of the gas stations in Charlotte have gas.  It's supposed to be another few weeks before this is all completely resolved, so I'll definitely be very conservative about my driving!

It's amazing how you take something like being able to buy gas for granted and how quickly you realize how dependent you are on it.  I loved how in Boston and in Austin, we lived close enough to be able to walk to places like the post office, the grocery store, and the playground.  Someday, I hope to live in a place like that again!  (And if we have to move to NYC, that could be sooner rather than later!)

I have always wanted to live someplace that was small enough to walk. I walk when I can, but with three little ones and the AZ heat, that isn't often enough!

I hope they get the gas shortage fixed soon!

Yeah!! Since reading your posting about this, I have now noticed it on the National News on a daily basis. It's on the Today show and some other news broadcasts saying that people are even sleeping in their cars. They said it should be resolved by mid-October. Good luck!
