B: Look, Mom! I drew the thing that boys have!
Since I’ve always had a passion for art, I didn’t want to discourage her creativity, but I have to admit that I was a little disturbed. She’s been very curious over the past year, asking why boys look different than girls, but couldn’t she just draw rainbows and houses and flowers? So I decided to ask her a little more about her artwork.
me: Wow, that’s a great picture, Berks. So, what exactly is it supposed to be?
B: You know, that thing. . . that boys wear around their neck to church?
me: (breathing a HUGE sigh of relief) Oh, you mean a necktie?
B: Yeah, a tie!
That was a close one. . .

HAHAHA wow that really was a close one. That is really funny actually. I wouldn't have guessed neck tie that is for sure. Alayna asks a lot about it, but she actually sees first hand every time I change Connor's diaper or they are in the bath together.
That's hilarious. We laughed out loud. Of course, with two little boys we have lots of those things boys have. :)
michael and i are laughing our heads off at that one!!
Awesome! I love kid stories like that...
i am glad you posted this - Chip and I were just reading it and both were laughing thinking it was something much different - thank heaven she clarified it for you! Glad you could laugh at me too - i actually was laughing myself - good thing i was pretty sure it wasn't like anyone i know was there!
Of course it's a necktie. What else could it be? What are you thinking, Mer? Sicko!! I love Berks.
That's hilarious! I can't stop laughing.

can't see why you were confused... looks exactly like a neck tie to me! :)
Mer I am dying over that story!!!!! So cute. I would have been sweating it too. Good thing Berkeley let you off the hook. It was so good to talk to you the other day. Miss you!
That is just too funny and too cute! LOL!!! Hopefully she won't attempt to draw a picture when she does get around to asking about what you THOUGHT she was referring to! LOL!!! :) BTW - You and Patrick did a wonderful job at Standards Night! However, I did leave thinking about how glad I was that I don't have to worry about going to one of those with my own kids for a while. :)
Hi--
I'm a friend of Molly Kay's. I used to be in the Hamilton/Leesburg ward years ago before we moved to Paris and Shanghai (Hamilton was my favorite ward of all times!) Anyway, Molly Kay has told me about you, so I wanted to say HI and introduce myself. Hopefully we can visit there soon. I loved this post on your blog. Being that I have four boys, I automatically KNEW it was a TIE (ha ha). Give Molly a hug for me. Alison Wilde
