if you go out in public with no make-up and wet hair. . .

. . . (oh, and a HUGE zit) it will probably be the day that you are confronted by a guy with a news camera.  At least that’s my experience anyway.  On Tuesday as I was coming out of the grocery store with the kiddos, a local news guy stopped me and asked if I believed in the Groundhog Day legend.  I told him that I never really understood it since spring officially starts in 6 weeks anyway and I’ve always wondered why the holiday ever started!  As I walked away, I thought, “There’s NO way they’re gonna air that.  I sounded like a complete idiot.”  I REALLY REALLY hoped they’d edit me out.  Remember my HUGE zit?

So later that evening, I’m watching Lost on the couch with Patrick and I got an email from Berkeley’s preschool teacher from last year:

Hi Meredith,

Just saw you commenting on Ground Hog Day on the Edge.  You looked like you knew what you were talking about!

And so it’s official– the people of Charlotte want to see idiots and zits.  I’m really hoping that no one else I know saw me in ALL my glory.  But if you did, please just tell me that you didn’t.

Oh man, that'll teach me to go grocery shopping in my workout clothes! I guess ya never know...
And what are the odds, I mean, you almost always look sheek and put together. Well, at least wet hair means you had showered, right?

Well, I didn't see you, but every time I get a speeding ticket or in an accident, I look like I just escaped from prison! It never seems to help my situation. I feel for ya! About the groudhog though, we have a family tradition of watching the movie Groundhog Day on Groundhog Day...it's fun, the kids look forward to it.
