sprout

Emery’s hair is at that lovely “baby mullet” stage.  The hair on top isn’t long enough to stay tucked behind her ear, but just long enough that it keeps falling into her face.  I don’t want to cut it because it takes FOREVER to grow.  She looks adorable with a little barrette holding that hair out of her eyes, and a headband is cute as well.  She thinks those styles look pretty cute too, because she gets a huge grin when I do her hair and then she sees herself in the mirror.  But about 10 seconds later, she pulls them right out.

There was one hairstyle I hadn’t tried, but it was the one that I promised I would NEVER inflict upon my girls—the sprout.  I made good on that promise with my first two girls, but I was so sick of seeing the “ragamuffin” look that on Saturday, I decided to cave.

And whadda ya know—she actually tolerates it!  I do have to admit that for as much as I thought I hated this hairstyle, I can’t get enough of it now!  She’s been wearing a little pony on the top of her head for the last three days now and hasn’t tried to pull it out yet.  Weird—you’d think it would be more annoying than a tiny little barrette!

Saturday was GORGEOUS.  (Okay, well it was gorgeous in the morning, then it poured rain, and then it was nice again.)  We took the opportunity to get in a little yard work. . .

She looks cute in her sprout! I'm glad you found something that works! You guys MUST be having some nice weather- bare feet even?!

Personally, I love the sprout! I think it looks so cute.

Lisa found a cute way to pull back that front hair though and I still use it to this day... it's really versatile. We call it Hair Twisty. Take what would be the sprout and put the rubberband in a little higher (than right next to the scalp), create a little hole right underneath the rubberband and pull the would-be sprout through the hole, then tighten.

Leah's never even tried to take that hair style out.

I've always loved the sprout!! Little girly toddlers can pull it off. But the hair twisty is a nice alternative, too, Melanie. I use that one, too.

I didn't know you disliked the sprout so much. I have always thought it was adorable. Emery wears it well!
