Dear baby,

Your official due date is this Saturday, July 19th.  I really do appreciate you not coming too early like your big sister Kendall did, but I just wanted to let you know that it's okay for you to come now.  You don't NEED to wait until Saturday (or later).

Your two sisters are really hoping that you are a girl and your dad would really love you to be a boy.  No matter which one you are, we will just be so happy to see you (and figure out what your name will be)!

I love feeling your little kicks and jabs, but I'm ready to actually see those little knees and toes that are throwing my stomach from side to side.

You're big enough now that sleeping is rather difficult, and I'm not able to get much of it.  I know I won't get much after you arrive either, but I'd rather be holding you in the middle of the night than tossing and turning to find a comfortable position in my bed.

My friend Yuko who I met while we lived in Austin told me that it is a Japanese tradition to officially invite the baby to come into your home.  Consider this your invitation.  We're ready!

Love, Mom

That is a cute letter... and I feel your pain about those last few days and weeks leading up to the delivery!

hang in there. I claim the last two weeks of pregnancy as "keep the pregnant woman happy" weeks and it can be enjoyable if you play your cards right....

marci, sounds like a good idea, but i think that only works if you have a husband who actually is home some of the time!

I have loved the idea of inviting the baby tradition and since you told us about it, we have had official invitation lunches just before Blake and Avery were born. It's such a fun idea. I'll make sure and have the invitation lunch today and invite "baby" to join us soon. love you
