hearts and flowers and thou—WOW!*

Here is our Valentine’s weekend in pictures:

--With the exception of me writing all the names on the front of the Valentines, Berkeley made all eighteen of them for her classmates by herself!  She was very meticulous about gluing the foam hearts on the outside and then glued a Nestle Crunch heart on the inside of each one and wrote her name underneath.  It kept her busy for a few hours while I worked out next to her on the spin bike and then made dinner!2009-02-12 0172009-02-12 024

--Kendall had fun making her school Valentines as well, with ZERO help from me.  They’re not especially fancy or creative (I didn’t think of a cute saying for her to write or anything like that) but I loved that she could do them all herself and so did she-- so much more fun than the pre-made ones that come from a box!2009-02-13 002

--We HEART this pillow that Aunt Megan made and sent to us.  It even has cute little arms that you can’t see in this picture.  Thanks, Megs!2009-02-15 001 2009-02-06 006

--I got these great metal letters on clearance for just $5 at Marshalls a couple days before V-day and I love them so much that now I don’t want to take them down!012

--Patrick got me some beautiful orangeish-pink roses that just kept getting prettier each day (I took this photo TODAY—nine days later)!  Thanks, babe!  Love you!017

--Patrick got K & B their first Valentine flowers and they were SO excited about it!2009-02-14 002

--And Emery just hung out with us being as cute as can be!2009-02-13 0032009-02-13 025

After school on Friday, we went to decorate cookies with some friends and then ordered the heart-shaped pizzas from Papa John’s and had a fun and casual dinner, just chatting and hanging out.

As a finale to the weekend, for the first time in years, we actually went out on Valentine’s night!  We have some fabulous friends/neighbors (with two kids that are friends with K & B) who offered to watch ALL three girls so that Patrick and I could go out!  It was so great to be able to eat dinner in peace and not have to worry about the baby or anyone but each other!  We had a delicious and relaxing dinner that ended with a huge piece of key lime pie.  In my opinion, it doesn’t get much better than that. . .

*The title of this post is an inside joke aimed at my little sisters.  One of them had a nightgown back in our pre-teen years that had those words on it and we always made fun of it!

those are some really pretty flowers. very impressive 9 days later! love the valentine's. Tyson's were totally from the box this year. Emery is looking so big!! I can't believe it. It will be fun to see everyone in June.

Ok- so making your own Valentines is so cute but so not BOY! i always ask my boys if they want to make theirs and they say "no, we want Star Wars, or sports..etc" or some other movie character. They do write all the names on the outside, inside, and make little treat bags for them but maybe the crafty thing is more girl? Cute pics and cute girls.... "Why don't you just hang up and laugh by yourself?" :)

I don't remember that nightgown. What a classic. And I remember the days I insisted upon homemade Valentines. They loved making them. That was a couple of kids ago. Those were the days.

I need to forward this post to Dale. I love all the flowers and giving flowers to your daughters on Valentines day is so adorable. Your valentines put me to shame!! I am impressed with how much privacy Kendall had making her cards - Abby and James are always trying to get into Elizabeth's stuff.

It's fun to see you posting again! I love those metal letters... my friend had a cute idea for a wereath with letters like that: http://heykatiegirl.blogspot.com/2009/01/my-non-betty-wreath.html You should use the 'M' and hang it on your door or in your home!

Haaa! I remember the nightgown, in fact I believe I owned it. When I saw your post title, I wondered if there was more to that poetic phrase than something printed on silly "nighties," as we called them. Too funny. Love the valentines, kudos to you. We really wimped out this year in that department!

So you remember "hearts and flowers and thou" but not MOTS. Hmmmm. That nightie was definitely forever ago. If Marliese was the original owner, chances are I got my turn with it, too. That strikes my funny bone that you actually remembered that. Hearing it dug it up from the recesses of my brain, but without that,I never would ahve remembered it!
