it continues

Last night, the governor of North Carolina put out a statement saying that everyone should STAY home today.  We’re good at following orders.  With church already cancelled, that was easy to do.  We enjoyed a quiet day at home together, and warmed ourselves up with spinach broccoli soup and homemade whole wheat bread.  Kendall & Berkeley spent the majority of the day working on a project they thought up—drawing all the characters and props needed for the story of Cinderella, cutting them out, and then gluing them on popsicle sticks so they could tell the story to us for a Family Home Evening activity tonight.  It was pretty darn cute.

As Patrick was tucking the girls into bed, the phone rang.  When I saw the caller ID, I knew exactly what was happening.  It was the recording from the school district saying that school was cancelled for tomorrow.  The sun did come out today and melt some of the ice, but with temperatures getting down into the teens again tonight, it will all be frozen over in the morning.  Snow days can be fun, but since we’ve already had two of them (even though they were over a weekend), I think I’m over it.  Plus, now this means we just got robbed of our President’s Day holiday!  Sorry, Abe & George. . .

The girls have played together so well these past two days being cooped up in the house, with only minimal arguing.  What are the odds they can keep it up for THREE?

Remember how you are posting like crazy and I love it. I should try to follow your example but I just have not been inspired or funny. Hope tomorrow is a good day. Does Pat get to stay home??

megs-- unfortunately, patrick doesn't get to stay home.

maria-- i just meant that now we have to make up this snow day on the President's Day holiday, so we won't have that day off anymore!

QG doesn't follow the CMS schedule. I figured that school was canceled today but I wasn't sure. I had to call around to other parents. Everyone got a phone call except me. I guess the school doesn't have my number which it ridiculous because I KNOW I filled out all the paperwork!!

We're trying not to be jealous. We've never had a snow day in the 6 winters we've lived here, and we get plenty of snow, ice, and cold temps. And I laughed about your girls being cooped inside for 3 days--how about 3 months??

I love your new header! Yeah, I'm glad Paul got home safely through the ice too. I thought the storms were further east...Sorry you lost President's day! I remember some years losing all of our major holidays and going two weeks into summer vacation. So it's easy to start dreading snow days when they pile up!

Maybe I'm the last to notice, but I love the new header on your blog! Please tell me it hasn't been that way for months? ;) (Or if it has - just lie to me :).

Crazy Charlotte weather! I love snow days, though--any excuse to stay home is a good one for me. Looks like yummy soup and cookies! and fun activities... What a productive few days you've had.
