Kidlandia

Just heard about this website where you can design your own family kingdom and have it made into a puzzle or a map to hang on your wall.  You input as many names as you want and it inserts them into names of places in the kingdom, i.e. Mount Kendall, Berkeley Town, Emery River.  I wanted it to be for all the girls, so instead of doing it the way they recommend (putting a child’s name as the name of the kingdom and her birthday as the national holiday), I used our last name and our anniversary date and then used the girls’ names in the additional names you can add.  They let you add up to 25 additional names, so next I added mine and Patrick’s and all four grandparents.  I still had a lot of other blanks to fill, so I filled in the gaps with things and places that are significant for our family—

  • all the cities we’ve lived in since we’ve been a family
  • the place Patrick and I met
  • the schools we’ve attended
  • the exact location where we got engaged
  • where we were married
  • our favorite type of place to go on vacations
  • the name of the street where we owned our first house
  • some activities our family enjoys
  • my maiden name

I love this idea!  I can’t decide if i should just order the puzzle or splurge a little and get the wall hanging—maybe for a Christmas gift this year?  It’s still a work in progress, so if I think of more things to add, I’ve saved it and can tweak it later, but I think it will be a fun thing for the girls to look at and remember some people, places, and things that are important to us!  (Of course, I haven’t shown Patrick yet, so we’ll see if he likes it as much as I do!)

Oh, and if anyone knows the answers to all those bullets above, I’ll send you a prize!

I don't know which 2 she got wrong but answering "Temple" is too safe! It was the Denver Temple right? How did you find that website? So cool.

Well, I don't know ANY, haha, but I LOVE this idea!!! So cute!

And I love seeing what you guys are up to! I can't believe your girls are already so big.

Btw, I'm using a Nikon D60, so nothing fancy. Somebody told me the lens makes all the difference, so I bought a good 30mm one and have really liked it. Your pictures are great, too, so honestly, I should be asking you what camera YOU use.

Love all those recipes, too!
