the belt comes to Charlotte

Patrick’s family is EXTREMELY competitive.  We have competitions every few months for things like working out, who can pick the most correct bowl games, and the NCAA basketball tournament.  Until recently, the only prize has been bragging rights (which, don’t get me wrong, is still pretty great!), but last year, Patrick had the bright idea of having a “title belt” that would travel around to whoever won the most recent competition.  Patrick’s dad ordered the belt, and after a couple other family members had their turn with the spoils, Patrick came out on top after March Madness 2010.  You have NO idea how excited he was to get this package in the mail.  I really should have taken some video instead of still shots.  There was a lot of hooting and hollering. . .

Patrick left the belt unattended when he left for work, and I walked in on Berkeley doing this:

FYI:  All of this posing was completely unprovoked (well, at least by me—watching her dad this morning may have had a little something to do with it)!

I love it!! Berks is the best. I can't wait for the next competition. I need the belt. I think it would look great on a pregnant belly!

I love love love the second picture of Berkeley wearing the belt! It makes her look so tiny and the belt so huge!
And now you've given Matt an idea for his competitive family. He'll be doing lots of research. :)

Such a funny idea. I do, however, think I won't pass it along to the Shaffer brothers . . .

By the way, your beautiful little daughter looks even-more-beautiful after her procedure. I think you made the right choice to help her self-esteem through the coming years. Is she used to her reflection in the mirror yet?
