Rocky Mountain high

About six months ago, we hit the jackpot.  A new family moved into our ward at church and they couldn’t be a better match for us.  Even though I’ve known Kellie for only a few months, it feels like we’ve been friends for years and years and we can talk for hours without even realizing it.  Patrick and KC have already bonded—never mind that they bonded over the fact that neither one of them are happy in their new jobs here in Denver!  And then there’s the kids.  Our kids get along with their kids amazingly well—maybe a little too well since every time they have to leave each other, they hide, tell us it’s too soon, or beg for a sleep-over!

For the fourth of July weekend, we didn’t think we were going anywhere special, until our new friends asked us if we wanted to go hiking up at Rocky Mountain National Park.  Patrick and I already had a commitment to help out at a youth temple trip until 6:30 pm on Friday, so Kellie volunteered to take our girls and drive up with their family and then Patrick and I would drive up when we were done.  Here’s what we found when we met them at the hotel:

They all had the best time having a sleepover/movie night and then we got up the next day for some hiking.

I was surprised to see that there was still snow up there in July!

We finished off the day with some great pizza at a recommended spot and were not disappointed.  No one wanted the day to end.  The scenery was breathtaking, the company was superb, the exercise was invigorating, and the food was delicious.

Thank you, Vigorens, for a fabulous trip!
