h-o-t

I picked Kendall up from school and we were having our usual “what did you do at school today?” chat on the drive home.  She told me that during carpool, one of the second grade boys gave her a note.

me:  What did it say?

K:  It said, “You are H-O-T.”

me:  Can I see the note?

K:  I ripped it up.

me:  How come?

K:  Cuz I didn’t like what it said!

I didn’t like what it said either!  This isn’t the first time she’s received a note from a boy, but it is the first time I’ve heard that word used.  Is “hot” really used to describe first graders now?  I mean, of course I think my girls are the cutest things ever, but HOT?  Is it just me or is it creepy to call a little kid “hot”?

P.S.  Don’t you just love post-trampoline static hair?

That is creepy. Seems like a second grader should be thinking girls have "cooties".

Creepy. Hopefully that kid was just repeating something that he heard and doesn't know what he is talking about. If I were you I'd tattle. I mean, you don't want to make a huge deal out of it or anything, but his parent/teacher should tell him that isn't appropriate. Of course Kendall already destroyed the evidence...

Yes, that is a little disturbing!

First of all, good for Kendall! Some girls, even at her tender age, would probably have been pretty proud.

Now I can't resist sharing a story about Kristi. One day a boy at school passed Kristi a note asking for her phone number. She didn't like that anymore than Kendall liked her note, so she threw it in the trash can on her way out the door! And oh yes, she wasn't six at the time, she was sixteen.

(she's going to the Winterfest Ball tomorrow night at the high school with a very nice boy but she is counting the minutes 'til it's over. Funny girl.)

Mer, somehow I missed all these end of Jan posts--I thought I had caught up after returning from Florida, but maybe blogger was being selective about telling me updated posts. But I must say that these little things are what make me a bit apprehensive about sending Xander off to school in the fall! You are hot? Come on!
